Ingredients• 4 pork chops, bone-in, about 3/4-inch thick • salt, to taste • Pepper, to taste • 3 tablespoons butter, divided • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced • 1 large white onion, halved and thinly sliced • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon • pinch of ground cayenne pepper • 2/3 cup apple cider • 1/3 cup heavy cream
Heavily season the pork chops with salt and pepper on each side, then set them aside.
Using a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
Directly add in the pork chops and let them cook until they are a golden brown.
Move the pork chops to a plate and set aside. Let the chops rest for another 3 minutes.
Heat the same skillet to medium-high heat and melt a tablespoon of butter.
Add the apples and onion and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is soft and translucent.
Mix in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and cayenne.
Add in the apple cider and heavy cream.
Place the pork chops back in the liquid, and cook it until the internal temperature of the chops reaches between 145 degrees F.
Let them rest for 3 minutes.
Serve the chops with the apple mixture on top.
