Ingredients
• 16 ounces spaghetti • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1 pound ground beef • kosher salt, to taste • freshly ground black pepper, to taste • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning • 1 (28 ounces) can crushed tomatoes • 1/2 cup basil, chopped • 1 cup mozzarella, shredded • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated • fresh parsley, optional, chopped, for garnishDirections
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a medium baking dish with cooking spray.
Cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente.
Drain the pasta and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil.
Add the onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Add the ground beef.
Season with the salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
Cook until the beef is no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
Drain the fat in a bowl lined with paper towels, then return it to the pan.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and basil.
Simmer until the mixture is slightly reduced, about 10 minutes.
Season with more salt and pepper to taste.
Toss the sauce with the spaghetti.
Transfer the pasta to the prepared baking dish.
Top the pasta with the mozzarella and parmesan.
Bake until the cheese is melted and the pasta is warmed through, about 20 minutes.
Garnish with parsley and serve.
