Broccoli can seem bland or boring by itself. But with the right seasonings and a little cheese (a little cheese never hurts), you can transform common vegetables into gourmet delights. Quick Garlic Parmesan Broccoli is sharp, garlicky, and bright, all of which pairs well with the natural garden flavor of the broccoli. As the name suggests, Quick Garlic Parmesan Broccoli is also speedy to make, needing less than half an hour to make! Never get bored by your vegetable side again!
Ingredients• 1 pound broccoli florets • 2 tablespoons olive oil • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1 lemon, zested and juiced • salt, to taste • freshly ground pepper, to taste • 1 tablespoon parmesan, grated
Add 1-2 inches of water to the bottom of a medium sauce-pot.
Place a steam basket in the pot.
Add the broccoli to the steam basket.
Place a lid on the pot and heat the water over high heat until it begins to steam.
Steam the broccoli until it is bright green and can be pierced with a fork while remaining slightly crisp, about 5 minutes.
Move the broccoli off the heat, removing the lid to prevent further cooking.
While the broccoli is steaming, add the olive oil to a large skillet and heat over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot, add the garlic and sauté until just soft and fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
Once the broccoli is finished steaming, transfer it from the saucepot to the skillet with the oil and garlic.
Add 1 teaspoon of the lemon juice over the top of the broccoli, tossing to coat.
Season to taste with salt and freshly cracked pepper.
Top with the grated parmesan and the lemon zest to taste.
