Ingredients• 3/4 cup unsalted butter • 1 (4 ounce) bar semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped, divided • 2 cups granulated sugar • 3 large eggs, room temperature • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract • 1 cup unsweetened natural or Dutch-process cocoa powder • 1 cup all-purpose flour, leveled • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with aluminum foil or parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to lift the finished brownies out. Set the pan aside.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and 2 ounces of the chopped chocolate.
Melt in 30-second increments, whisking after each interval, until completely smooth.
Whisk in the sugar until completely combined.
Whisk in the eggs and vanilla. The batter will be light brown.
Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, the remaining 2 ounces of the chopped chocolate and the chocolate chips.
Fold the mixture together with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon. The batter will be very thick.
Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs on it, about 30-35 minutes.
Remove the pan from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool completely in the pan.
Cut into squares and serve.
