Sloppy Joe Texas Toast is a tasty tribute to American cuisine!


• 4 slices of Texas toast, frozen • 1 pound ground beef, lean • 1/4 cup onion, chopped • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder • 3/4 cup ketchup • 2 teaspoons tomato paste • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce • 2 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar • salt, to taste • pepper, to taste • 1 ounce of cheddar cheese, shredded and divided


Step 1

Preheat the oven according to the package directions for the Texas toast.

Step 2

In a pan, over medium heat, brown and crumble the ground beef and onion until the meat is no longer pink, for about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3

Drain the grease from the pan.

Step 4

Add the garlic powder, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, and pepper to the meat mixture. Stir well to combine.

Step 5

Cook the tomato and meat mixture until it has thickened to your liking.

Step 6

While the Sloppy Joe mixture is thickening, place the Texas toast in the oven on a baking sheet. Bake according to the package directions.

Step 7

Divide the toast among four plates, top with the Sloppy Joe mixture, and sprinkle each with 1/4 ounce cheese.
